The Leopards of Jawai with Jodhpur

We will spend our days in Jawai by two wilderness drives each day – one with a break of dawn and one in the evening which will end with sunset. The drives will be approximately 2-3 hours where you may visit the nearby villages to interact with the locals and even visit their homes in between the drives.

On any one of the days, we can also arrange for a trek to the nearby hill to witness the sunrise. A picnic sundowner to end a successful day in the bush will be arranged alongside the Jawai Dam where many bird species and crocodiles are easily spotted.

The nights will end with bush dinners or campfire dinner. Jawai will never stop to amuse you; and just when you feel you have experienced everything there was to experience, it may surprise you with something, something new to wonder upon.

After a filling breakfast at the hotel, visit the 15^th Century Mehrangarh Fort. The fort also has a museum to take you through the history of Marwar Royal families which lived in the forts till about the 1950s. The history is simply fascinating, a blend of elephant battles, Mughal sieges and political machinations.

The next stop will be Jaswant Thada, a cenotaph dedicated to the Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The site has subsequently become the burial ground and memorial for Jodhpur’s maharajas each of whom has a white marble tomb in the central building.

Lunch can be served at the resort or should you wish, our guide will be more than happy to take you through the old & famous street food places to drool upon.

During the evening, pay a visit to decades–old temples, Chokelao Bagh and finally to the Umaid Bhawan Palace. The Royal Palace is one–fourth occupied by the hotel, but a few rooms are still open as part of the palace museum which are worth a visit.

Dinner will be served at the palace restaurant where a table will be reserved for you beforehand. Fall in love with the food prepared based on the authentic recipes from the bygone royal era.

Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
