Sundarban is the largest delta in the world and consists of 10,200 km2 of mangrove forest, spread over India and Bangladesh. Sundarbans is bound on the west by river Muriganga and on the east by rivers Harinbhahga and Raimangal. Other major rivers flowing through this ecosystem are Saptamukhi, Thakuran, Matla and Goasaba. Being a birder’s paradise, Sundarbans has about 428 birds, some, like the Masked Finfoot and Buffy fish owl, are recorded only seen here.

Sundarbans National Park

The delta harbors large reptiles like the King Cobra, Monitor Lizard, Estuarine Crocodile and the Olive Ridley Turtle, for which there is a conservation Program in the Indian park. The park is also home to Leopard, Indian Rhinoceros, Javan Rhinoceros, Swamp Deer, Hog Deer and Water Buffalo etc.
